Mobile applications or apps are now considered vital part of human life. From online shopping, food delivery, mobile banking, to even simple tasks like making a grocery list, marking our calendars, and so many others, technology has proven its efficiency. These applications have transformed the use of mobile phones from just a telecommunication device to many things possible which before were thought of as impossible. Soon, fishers will enjoy the benefits of these apps, too!The Department of Agriculture−National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (DA−NFRDI) has partnered with iNON Technologies and Globe Telecom to develop a specialized app for our fisherfolk: ISDApp.ISDApp is the first community app in the Philippines that will aid fisherfolk with the power of data, even if they don’t have smartphones and internet connection. Installed on a municipal official’s smartphone, ISDApp will send daily information such as real-time weather, tide status, wind speed, cloud coverage, and, sunrise and sunset.
