PRINT RESOURCES


Filipiniana Collection

Any materials about the Philippines (i.e. people, culture, events, etc.), which may be produced by a Filipino or non-Filipino author that supports the research and development program in the fisheries industry.

General Circulation Collection

Also known as the Circulation resources, in this collection can be found materials that have been authored by a foreigner, and whose topics do not concern the Philippines subject related matter. Most of the materials found in this collection are non-fiction in nature. This collection provides basic and advanced knowledge in subject-specific and interdisciplinary topics, as well as to serve as a starting avenue for discipline, immersion, and research.

Grey Literature

All information materials produced outside of traditional publishing and distribution channels. This includes reports, policy documents, annual reports, government documents, conference proceedings, etc.

General Reference Collection

Materials that are intended to be consulted for specific pieces of information rather than read consecutively due to the organization and presentation of their subject matter. Under this category can be found the following, but not limited to:

  • Maps
  • Atlas
  • Bibliographical sources
  • Dictionary
  • Directory
  • Encyclopedia
  • Geographical Sources
  • Guidebooks
  • Handbooks

Serial Collection

Print continuing resources issued in a succession, typically at regular or irregular intervals, and without a predetermined conclusion. Included in this category are newspapers (i.e. broadsheets, and tabloids), journals, and trade literature (e.g. newsletters, magazines, etc.)

Vertical Files

Refers to the collection of loose clippings, pictures, illustrations, pamphlets, or other materials of an ephemeral nature that, because of size and format, are filed on edge in drawers or in a box, usually organized in folders by subject or some other classification system to facilitate retrieval.

SPECIAL RESOURCES


These are collections that contain institutional documents, technical information and confidential materials and records, as well as community culture related resources. Materials classified under this category are divided into two sub-collections:

  • Institutional Publication Collection: All print materials (i.e. Serials, books, posters, vertical files, etc.) that are published by the institute.
  • Gender and Development Collection: This includes both internally published and externally acquired print materials relevant to the field of gender and development.

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES COLLECTION

Digital Resources Collection

Refers to the collection of all electronic materials such as e-books, e-journals, etc.

Indexed Materials Collection

All indexable materials in print and digital format. (i.e. journals, newsletters, proceedings, etc.)

Institutional Repository Collection

All institutional publications of NFRDI that are in digital format.


NON-PRINT RESOURCES

Non-Print Materials Collection

Materials published in a format other than writing or print on paper, including microfiche and microfilm, slides, filmstrips, films, video recordings, audio recordings, and CDs and DVDs.
