Utilization of Seaweeds directly as human food is well-known in the Philippines. Among the species commonly used as food are Acanthopora, Caulerpa, Codium, Gracilaria, Hydroclathrus, Laurencia, Porphyra and Sargassum. The seaweeds are used raw or blanched mostly as salad vegetable.
